One of the most common ways of improving smile in modern dentistry is to set porcelain veneers. These are very thin ceramic laminates, bonded to the front surface of teeth.

With veneers, according to the patient’s needs and wishes, we can change the shape, size, position and color of natural teeth, correcting minor orthodontic anomalies and replacing old composite fillings. The result of placing veneers is extremely high esthetic smile with minimal trimming of natural teeth and great durability of such work. They are often combined with previous bleaching so the final overall effect is whiter and fresher new smile, because surrounding teeth are also brighter.

To create veneers usually only two visits are needed. In the first visit we remove old fillings and prepare teeth, an impression is taken and the color determined. It is the most important process to avoid false and artificial looking teeth. Teeth are not monochromatic, so the technician has to apply layering technique and to use several shades of porcelain to give a natural appearance of the final restoration.

On departure from the clinic, the patient is provided with temporary restoration. After 3-5 days the permanent veneers are being bonded to the patient’s teeth . Although the porcelain itself is fragile, after bonding the tooth becomes sturdy and durable.

Veneers can correct many cosmetic defects such as dark and discolored teeth, various chips, gaps between teeth, uneven lengths of teeth and tooth malposition. Their main advantages are the minimal reduction of tooth tissue, only ca. 0.5 mm, which is much less than when preparing for a crown, very natural looking porcelain that mimics a natural tooth enamel and reflects light in the same way as natural tooth, and the fact that they don’t stain- the veneer does not change color because the surface is as smooth as glass . There is a possibility of making the so-called. prepless veneers, where tooth trimming is not necessary!

In addition, veneers are certainly the mildest procedure from standpoint of gum irritation and there is no gum recession.

Opt for a mock-up, quick and cheap simulation, and find out how you could look like with a new veneers!
