Tooth care
Oral hygene is important in preventing different disorders such as tooth decay, gingivitis, periodontal disease and others. There are two types of oral hygene: proffesional and personal. Regular cleanings are performed by proffesionals by removing tartar (mineralised plaque), that can form even with good and thorough cleaning. It is done using several tools that remove both plaque and tartar (ultrasonic scaler, air abrasion). Personal hygene is done at home, every day, with a toothbrush and floss. The goal of oral hygene is to reduce the patogen agents in the mouth, to remove and prevent the formation of dental plaque which consists mainly of bacteria. An increase in plaque increases the risk of tooth decay, bad breath and periodontal disease. A toothbrush can remove all the plaque on almost any surface of the tooth. For the interdental spaces flossing is required. Electrical toothbrushes are not more efficient from manual ones but are prefered by some patient.
